Why is the Good News "GOOD"?

It is my 138th chapter that I am following a series of reflections and meditations by Pastor John Piper through his book "Taste and See" which derives its title from Psalm 34:8 that ... in a raw way..., challenges.. confronts.. invites.. lures.. provokes.. promises.. "Taste and see that the Lord is good!".

A tasteful collection indeed. Thank God for such Bible-soaked resource! Thank you, Pastor John for inspiring me to journal my life through your writings! I highly recommend the book to all God-hungering and Life-Thirsting people. You can also find a link to a huge collection of pastor John's ministry on the web listed on the list of my favourite sites. Check it out. A wonderful site indeed!

Back to the subject matter for now, the Good News is good not just because of the forgiveness of sins, neither the justification of God, nor our rescue from damnation. But! Here it is, it is "Good" because it connects us with the "unsearchable riches of Christ" (Ephesians 3:8), the only lasting, all-satisfying Source of Joy, Jesus Christ!, the "immeasurable riches of [God's] grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus" (Ephesians 2:7).

Imagine for a moment the words used, "un-search-able"! and "im-measure-able"! Let the meaning of the words sink in! ... ... ...

Does that mean that it is unending? infinite? ever-new? ever-increasing? never-boring? ever-satisfying? ... I strongly suspect the answer to these is a resounding YES!

I pray God gives us all "strength to comprehend with all the saints what is the breadth and length and height and depth, and to know the love of Christ that surpasses knowledge" (Ephesians 3:18-19) Amen!
