God's Seed In His Children

Following on the meditation on 2 yesterdays, God's voice kept ringing in my ears on the following passage.

My God, my saviour, I pray that your Word be used discerningly and redemptively through the work of your Holy Spirit inside each one of your children.

"Everyone who makes a practice of sinning also practices lawlessness; sin is lawlessness. You know that he appeared to take away sins, and in him there is no sin. No one who abides in him keeps on sinning; no one who keeps on sinning has either seen him or known him. Little children, let no one deceive you. Whoever practices righteousness is righteous, as he is righteous. Whoever makes a practice of sinning is of the devil, for the devil has been sinning from the beginning. The reason the Son of God appeared was to destroy the works of the devil. No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God. By this it is evident who are the children of God, and who are the children of the devil: whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is the one who does not love his brother."
~1 John 3:4-10 (ESV)

Brothers and sisters, let no one deceive us! As Apostle John addressed the heresy which we saw in the last 2 reflections yesterdays, he urgently wants to awaken us that being righteous has to "flesh out" in our words, deeds, actions. He also dispelled the voice of the spirit of the anti-Christ that says "we are never sinless".

Now, in the above passage, we saw that our "being righteous" is confirmed by our "practising righteousness". That's the result of anyone born of God.

He continued by writing a statement that couldn't be expressed much stronger. Pay close attention to this, "No one born of God makes a practice of sinning, for God’s seed abides in him, and he cannot keep on sinning because he has been born of God" (1 John 3:9, ESV)

At the outset of being a Christian, being born again of God, God placed something in us! His Seed! Be it, His personal revelation! Be it, His Word of Truth! Be it, His nature! God placed something in us at the very outset of being born again of Him! And this is such that, the born again Christian cannot make peace in His heart with sinning! He/she cannot keep on sinning!

Therefore, brothers and sisters, do not reject that voice in us that hold us back when we are about to commit a sin. Instead, heed it and ask for His strength to flee from sin, to not sin! God's grace be with you!
