"The LORD had said to Abram, "Leave your country, your people and your father's household and go to the land I will show you.
"I will make you into a great nation
and I will bless you;
I will make your name great,
and you will be a blessing.
I will bless those who bless you,
and whoever curses you I will curse;
and all peoples on earth
will be blessed through you.""
~ Genesis 12:1-3 (NIV)
Change is something that noone in general likes. Change is naturally resisted. We are by nature designed to accustom to a certain environment or condition and settle. Abram, a Biblical character better known, as Abraham, was no exception. The Lord gave Him the instruction that would introduce a very significant change that would affect not even only himself, but his whole family and home. He was to leave his own home and set out to a land that God Himself would show. Certainly, right now, on hindsight, we know which land God was referring to. However, at the point when Abraham received the instruction, he had no clue whatsoever, where he was to migrate to. So here is one man, who was asked to leave his home and go to an unknown land. Would I do that? If I were asked. There is certainly some hesitation and catiousness that I would approach the instruction. Today's sharing of the Word reminded me to consider and reflect on some of the comfort zones that I have that I am unwilling to break out of if God so instructs me.
