Praise be to You for Your Word spoken to us this day!
"Therefore, holy brethren, partakers of a heavenly calling,
consider Jesus, the Apostle and High Priest of our confession;
He was faithful to Him who appointed Him,
as Moses also was in all His house.
For He has been counted worthy of more glory than Moses,
by just so much as the builder of the house has more honor than the house.
For every house is built by someone,
but the builder of all things is God.
Now Moses was faithful in all His house as a servant,
for a testimony of those things which were to be spoken later;
but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house--
whose house we are, if we hold fast
our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end."
~Hebrews 3:1-6 (NASB)
Partakers of a heavenly calling...
God calls us as partakers of a heavenly calling, which means partners, team mates, co-labourers, fellow workers for the calling of His Kingdom. Reflect on this for a moment and consider that invaluable honor and privilege of being joint partners with God for His Kingdom, sharing His all in Him.
As Moses has been regarded as one great servant of God and priest for Israel, Jesus is regarded with more honor and glory than Moses for He is the builder of the House. The House in which Moses served. In our modern context, it is the Church.
Here comes the crux of this passage which also beats with the same heartbeat within this entire book of Hebrews.
"but Christ was faithful as a Son over His house--
whose house we are, if we hold fast
our confidence and the boast of our hope firm until the end"
~Hebrews 3:6 (NASB)
We are part of His House, if we hold fast (firmly stand, determinedly persevere, patiently endure, watchfully grip) our Confidence and boast of our Hope (Jesus) firm until the end.
So, brothers and sisters,
"take a good hard look at Jesus.
He's the centerpiece of everything we believe"
~Hebrews 3:1b (The Message)
